The Fish For Life project team has completed a new episode of the series of short videos dedicated to good practices in the field of ecological management and reconstruction of rivers. Thus, Cristian Tetelea, coordinator of ecological reconstruction activities, and Istvan Falka, coordinator of fish species monitoring activities, explain the role of the measures to be implemented in activities C2 (Habitat reconstruction measures in Gilort riverbed) and C3 ( Riverbed stabilization on the Gilort River at key points).
One of the starting points in establishing measures to be taken is the interaction with locals. Their stories about the extinction of some fish species, the daily coexistence with Gilort River, understanding the natural and anthropic processes that shaped Gilort and the terms used to describe certain river processes are extremely important in finding optimal reconstruction solutions. Also, in the video below, the two specialists explain the importance of habitat diversity to support fish populations and the role of each habitat type in the development of certain species.
