Invisible Nature team completed in September the integrated analysis of some sectors of Gilort River in order to investigate its natural processes, which determine the current character and behavior of the river in Natura 2000 site Gilort River. These are the initial conditions of the ecological reconstruction measures to be implemented within Fish For Life project.

The specific objectives of the study were the following:

• Analysis of current morphological conditions of rivers and characterization of the morphological structure (habitat units) at analysis scales that contribute to identifying the ecological reconstruction objectives
• Establish an effective approach for ecological conservation and reconstruction measures on the river sectors within Natura 2000 site;
• Identifying areas that require interventions for ecological reconstruction and establishing the most feasible measures that contribute to restoration and / or improvement of habitats along rivers;
• Development support thematic maps (eg map of habitats / morphological units along the river, distribution of riparian vegetation, etc.) and preliminary plans with objectives for potential areas of ecological reconstruction;

Among the factors that influence rivers morphology in the river basin are the relief and geology (plate I), the morphometry of the river basin, hydrology and land use.

În analiza structurii morfologice și a habitatelor râurilor din situl Natura 2000 Râul Gilort au fost analizate caracterul și morfologia principalelor râuri prezente în sit, caracteristicile pădurilor ripariene, diversitatea habitatelor râurilor, au fost identificate sursele actuale de deteriorare a râurilor (Planșa X). De asemenea, a fost calculat indicele de calitate morfologică și a fost analizată corelația dintre comportamentul râurilor și potențialul de reconstrucție ecologică al acestuia.

În ceea ce privește refacerea habitatelor naturale pe râurile din situl Natura 2000 Râul Gilort, au fost urmărite următoarele direcții de acțiune:

• Refacerea pădurilor ripariene;
• Refacerea structurii naturale a albiei râului Galbenu;
• Refacerea habitatelor naturale pe râul Gilort.

Rezultatele obținute vor contribui la elaborarea proiectului tehnic al măsurilor de reconstrucție ecologică (A4) indicând amplasamentele și parametrii tehnici specifici pentru măsurile în albie din cadrul activităților C2 și C3. Trebuie menționat și faptul că lucrările de reconstrucție în albie se vor desfășura preponderent în aval de confluența Gilortului cu râul Galben, ca urmare a exploatărilor de pietrișuri în amonte de acest punct.
