Improving the diversity of fish species habitats
Under the project, actions will be taken to improve the diversity of habitats for four fish species on a 26-km corridor of Gilort River.
Habitat diversity is a very important issue because each fish species has different habitat needs. Gobio albipinnatus, Sabanejewia aurata and Eudontomyzon mariae need natural pools and ponds with smooth water, while Barbus meridionalis needs fast water with gravel substrate. Therefore, the measures to be proposed will have the objective of improving the frequency of natural basins along the river or the reconnection and rehabiitation of natural ponds.
