EPA Gorj, the coordinator of the Fish For Life project, has concluded the contract for the design and execution of the construction works for the two fish migration passages on Gilort River. The works will be divided into two lots, corresponding to the two threshold spillways, Albeni and Targu Carbunesti.
The fish passage from Albeni is located at the spillway from the bridge on DJ675B. To allow passage of the species aimed in Fish For Life project, a Rock ramp pass will be disposed and recalibration works will also be carried out in order to reduce the flow rate. For this we will use embankment, sand and gravel. They will be inserted into the riverbed from the threshold spillway, over a long distance, to reduce the slope of the riverbed and, consequently, the speed of water flow. In order to maintain the shape of the newly created riverbed in this area, work is needed to consolidate and fix the riverbanks, as well as planting riparian vegetation downstream of the threshold spillway
The second passage is located at the threshold spillway from the bridge on DN67B, in Targu Carbunesti. The technical solution chosen here is the Pool and weir pass type, which will be done either by constructing a water flow slope of a sufficiently large length, or by creating a system of water rest basins, hydraulic jump basins and small slope communicating channels between pools. More information on the technical solutions can be found in the article regarding the feasibility study of works.
The deadlines for implementing the works for both lots are the following:
- Design services: 2 months (approx. February 2020).
- Obtaining the authorization to execute the works: 1 month (approx. March 2020).
- Execution of works: 14 months (approx. March 2021).
