If at the beginning of the year we announced the reception by APM Gorj of the technical design, on April 9, 2021 the works for the fish passage from Târgu Cărbunești started. The existing overflow threshold formed an artificial waterfall that the fish could not cross in their attempt to reach the upstream. In order to allow the passage of fish, it was decided to build a passage of the "ladder with vertical slots" type that includes 22 pools, properly sized for the migration of target species. In order to help the fish species to cross the area at very high flows also, on the right bank one shall setup a ramp made of rocks embedded in the concrete. The ramp will have a length of 15 m and a maximum width of 5 m.

ANANP meeting
The meetings of the project implementation team with the stakeholders from the Nature 2000 site zone of the Gilort River continue. After the representatives of the Gorj Water Management System and the landowners in the area of interest of the project activities, the APM Gorj team met, on Thursday, March 18th 2021, with local representatives of the National Agency for Protected Natural Areas, the administrator of the Gilort River Nature 2000 Site, where the Fish for Life project is implemented. The working meeting included both a series of discussions and a visit to the project implementation area.
Meetings with landowners along the banks of the Gilort River
The Fish For Life project implementation team has organized, in these past two weeks, several meetings with landowners from Bengești-Ciocadia, locality situated along the Gilort River. These lands have been selected, based on studies, as the best areas contributing to the improvement of the riparian forest habitats connectivity along the river sector, which can also be integrated with shore stabilization measures.
