A series of complex ecological reconstruction works have been completed (in autumn 2023) on the Gilort River. They were carried out as part of the LIFE project “Restoration of the migration lanes and habitats for rheophilic fish species in the Gilort River” - Fish for Life, within the radius of Bengești-Ciocadia commune. Ecological reconstruction camps
The ecological reconstruction camps are designed to promote the scientific and practical basis for the ecological reconstruction of rivers among young people in Romania who are pursuing a career in nature conservation, water management, resource management or landscape design. By organizing two camps within the FISH for LIFE project, we want to contribute to the expansion of opportunities for continuous education of young people and to supplement the lack of specialization programs dedicated to ecological reconstruction in Romania. What do we aim for? The camps are not explanatory sessions or scientific conferences on the topic of ecological reconstruction, but practical work sessions...
Completion, targu carbunești passageway, Gilort river
The works for arranging the overflow threshold from Târgu Cărbunești have reached an important point, with the completion of the central passageway for the migration of fish. The central passageway is about 24 meters long, 7 meters wide and was designed and built as a "ladder with vertical slots", with a length of 64 meters, which includes 22 pools delimited by vertical slots.
Conservation status of fish populations
One of the documents underlying the ecological reconstruction measures was the report entitled The study of the conservation status of the fish population on the Gilort River. The study focused mainly on species of community interest, namely: southern barbel, golden spined loach, brook lamprey, white - finned gudgeon, danube whitefin gudgeon and european bitterling. Samples were collected from 21 sampling sections (13 at the Natura 2000 site, 8 outside it)
