The success of some measures of ecological reconstruction of some river sectors is very much conditioned by a collaboration between the institutions that have attributions in the management of the river basin, of the Natura 2000 Gilort River site and of the biodiversity of the area in general.

Networking with LIFE projects from Italy and Austria
On November 24-30, 2019, a team of EPA Gorj visited two LIFE projects in Italy and Austria aimed at ecological reconstruction and restoration of the connectivity of some rivers and the rehabilitation of some fish populations. The first project they visited was IdroLIFE - Conservation and management of freshwater fauna of EU interest within the ecological corridors of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, LIFE15 NAT / IT / 000823. It is implemented by CNR - Water Research Institute (Verbania division - CRN-ISE), and the host of the visit was Pietro Volta, ecological reconstruction specialist and project manager.
Contracting the works for fish passages
EPA Gorj, the coordinator of the Fish For Life project, has concluded the contract for the design and execution of the construction works for the two fish migration passages on Gilort River. The works will be divided into two lots, corresponding to the two threshold spillways, Albeni and Targu Carbunesti.
Dialogue with decision-makers
Gorj Environmental Protection Agency, in collaboration with Invisible Nature and University of Bucharest (CCMESI), organized a meeting with the local authorities, decision makers and local communities from Natura 2000 site Gilort River, on 30 and 31 October 2019.
