One of the documents underlying the ecological reconstruction measures was the report entitled The study of the conservation status of the fish population on the Gilort River. The study focused mainly on species of community interest, namely: southern barbel, golden spined loach, brook lamprey, white - finned gudgeon, danube whitefin gudgeon and european bitterling. Samples were collected from 21 sampling sections (13 at the Natura 2000 site, 8 outside it)

ANANP meeting
The meetings of the project implementation team with the stakeholders from the Nature 2000 site zone of the Gilort River continue. After the representatives of the Gorj Water Management System and the landowners in the area of interest of the project activities, the APM Gorj team met, on Thursday, March 18th 2021, with local representatives of the National Agency for Protected Natural Areas, the administrator of the Gilort River Nature 2000 Site, where the Fish for Life project is implemented. The working meeting included both a series of discussions and a visit to the project implementation area.

Meetings with landowners along the banks of the Gilort River
The Fish For Life project implementation team has organized, in these past two weeks, several meetings with landowners from Bengești-Ciocadia, locality situated along the Gilort River. These lands have been selected, based on studies, as the best areas contributing to the improvement of the riparian forest habitats connectivity along the river sector, which can also be integrated with shore stabilization measures. Invisible Nature team completed in September the integrated analysis of some sectors of Gilort River in order to investigate its natural processes, which determine the current character and behavior of the river in Natura 2000 site Gilort River. These are the initial conditions of the ecological reconstruction measures to be implemented within Fish For Life project.
