Between September 5-9, 2022, Invisible Nature representatives disseminated the results of the Fish For Life project at the 13th European Conference on Ecological Restoration - SERE2022. This took place in Alicante (Spain), the work presented was entitled Use of species – habitat relationships to assist for effective restoration actions (authors Cristian Tetelea, Alexandru Giurea, Istvan Falka). The poster of the paper is available attached.

The United Nations Decade on ecosystems restoration: An opportunity to upscale restoration and to share good practices in Europe by 2030 session was also held during the conference. Dr. Cristian Tetelea (Invisible Nature) participated in the W1 session. Enhancing capacities for effective ecosystem restoration throughout the UN Decade and beyond (photo below). The aim of the workshop was to identify essential gaps and institutional priorities for reconstruction, to support the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, but also to develop guidelines for effective ecosystem reconstruction.

On this occasion, the Invisible Natura team also visited two LIFE projects implemented in the region. The first of these was LIFE+ RPISILVANATURA, whose purpose is to control the spread of invasive alien species present on the banks of the Segura River, but also to promote the support of the colonization of riparian forests with native species. The project was implemented by a consortium of partners from the Murcia area between September 1, 2014 and August 31, 2019.

The second project visited was The Segura – Riverlink, a project that proposed the ecological reconstruction of a sector of the Segura River. Similar to the Fish For Life project, it removed a number of artificial barriers built on the river and created a series of effective fish passages, restoring the longitudinal connectivity of the river for more than 50 km.

The SERE2024 conference will take place in Tartu, Estonia.
