The Fish For Life project team has completed a new episode of the series of short videos dedicated to good practices in the field of ecological management and reconstruction of rivers. Thus, Cristian Tetelea, coordinator of ecological reconstruction activities, and Istvan Falka, coordinator of fish species monitoring activities, explain the role of the measures to be implemented in activities C2 (Habitat reconstruction measures in Gilort riverbed) and C3 ( Riverbed stabilization on the Gilort River at key points).
Year: 2020
Good practice video
Sustainable management of water bodies must combine economic safety and development of local communities from adjacent areas, with the needs of conservation for species and habitats. FishForLife project proposes, with the support of local partners, modern solutions for solving dysfunctions, through an integrated approach of river basin management, based on the objectives of Water Framework Directive and management plan of Natura 2000 Gilort River site.
Work Meeting with SGA Gorj (Water Management Agency GORJ)
On Wednesday, July 1, 2020, a work meeting took place between Fish For Life project implementation team and SGA Gorj representatives. The meeting focused on the ecological reconstruction works provided in action C3. Ensure stream bank stabilization and buffer strips establishment at key reaches in Gilort river. After a detailed presentation held by Dr. Cristian Tetelea, the subsequent discussions focused on issues such as: • standardization of the terminology used in relation to the works (sometimes the terms may differ from one institution to another - basins along the river, fast waters or rapids, trees embedded and/or drowned in the riverbed
Completion of Albeni Technical Project
As you may already know, one of the main activities of the FishForLife project is making migration passages for fish, in Albeni and Targu Carbunesti. For the first set of works to be carried out at the spillway threshold in the area of DJ675B bridge in Albeni, EPA Gorj received and approved the technical project for this objective. It provides a rock ramp fish passage solution, but also a series of measures to recalibrate the riverbed, in order to reduce the flow rate and eliminate the existing hydraulic jump (waterfall).
