Between August 9-10, 2021, the annual monitoring visit of the Fish For Life project by the LIFE Monitoring Team / NEEMO GEIE took place, represented by Mrs. Ioana Lucaciu. APM Gorj was represented by Cosmin Calma, project manager, Cristian Merfu (assistant manager) and Ionuț Mocîrcioiu (financial manager of the project), Invisibile Nature by Cristian Tetelea (coordinator of ecological reconstruction actions), and the University of Bucharest by Marius Matache (responsible for communication).

Completion, targu carbunești passageway, Gilort river
The works for arranging the overflow threshold from Târgu Cărbunești have reached an important point, with the completion of the central passageway for the migration of fish. The central passageway is about 24 meters long, 7 meters wide and was designed and built as a "ladder with vertical slots", with a length of 64 meters, which includes 22 pools delimited by vertical slots.
Educational activities on the Gilort River
The Gorj Environmental Protection Agency organized between 23 and 25 June 2021 a series of educational events dedicated to children from schools in Bălcești (Bengești - Ciocadia commune) and Albeni. The first of them took place on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, the specialists of EPA Gorj, in collaboration with the teachers of the school in Albeni, offered the students a biology and ecology lesson directly in the middle of nature.
Natura 2000 Day
The FISH FOR LIFE project team marked Natura 2000 Day with two activities carried out together with students from schools in Albeni and Bengești Ciocadia, ecological education actions and tree planting. The students organized excursions to the Natura 2000 site Gilort River, where they took photos with the flora and fauna specific to the area. The photos were then presented in exhibitions organized in each school, on which occasion teachers and representatives of the Gorj Environmental Protection Agency spoke to the children about the Natura 2000 Network,
